Richard Shipley, B.Sc., R.P.F.
Vice President, Operations
Richard is a registered professional forester with the Association of
British Columbia Forest Professionals. Working in the forest industry
since 1988, Richard has worked in several sectors of the forest industry.
He began logging in the late 80's, working as a chockerman, yarding
engineer, loader operator, and handfaller on a cable harvesting systems.
After nine years of operational experience he attended the University
of Northern British Columbia, where he received a BSc in Natural Resources
Management. Upon graduation, Richard joined Canadian Forest Products (Canfor),
one of Canada's largest forest products companies, where he worked
as a harvesting supervisor overseeing 1,000,000 m3 of annual cut, while
managing extensive road building, bridge building and maintenance programs.
In addition, he was part of a comprehensive safety program, and worked
with local public groups as part of road user agreements committee. In
2004, Richard left Canfor to join the management team of Tymatt Contracting,
Vancouver Island's largest mechanical harvesters. With Tymatt, Richard
helped devise, tracking and management systems directly in conjunction
with Weyerhaeuser, Canada. He also worked extensively in the field, directing
Tymatt's daily operations.
