Mechanical Design Engineer

Triton Logging, the world’s leading underwater logging company, is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the position will work within Triton’s engineering group at the company’s Saanichton headquarters and will also work on occasion with the harvest operations team in the field.

The Design Engineer researches, develops, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and machines that support Triton Logging’s underwater harvesting operations and Sawfish systems. The Design Engineer will oversee projects from concept through to commercial handoff and will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Minimum 10 years experience working directly in the field of machine design and development;
• Experience in development of complex electro-mechanical systems and large scale mobile equipment;
• Experience leading diverse design teams in the development of new equipment, from conceptual design through to working product;
• Experience in the development of marine related equipment an asset;
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;

• Ability to apply innovation and “out of the box” thinking when faced with new design challenges;
• Ability to work directly on machinery during commissioning and debugging.
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with team members developing and executing on project plans;
• Demonstrated ability to influence others and build consensus among divergent groups;
• Outstanding interpersonal skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills;

• High level of emotional maturity;
• Positive attitude and client focused;
• Flexible and adaptable;
• Can work independently and within a team;
• Willingness and ability to travel both within British Columbia and internationally is essential.
